As you look through our Editors' Picks from 2008 campaign posters, you will notice a certain preponderance of artwork supporting Senator Barack Obama.

Before all you conservatives start sending e-mail about liberal media bias, know that we tried and tried to find as many pro-McCain posters as possible.

The simple truth is, neither John McCain nor Sarah Palin have inspired the design world to create in anywhere near the same way the artistic community has embraced the persona and the message of Barack Obama.

That's pretty predictable, really. Artistic = dreamer = idealistic = liberal in most cases.

But it's important to recognize that it's not some viral accident. The phenomenon of the artistic embrace of the Obama campaign was clearly sparked by the serious attention paid by the Obama campaign to the potential and power of design.

Imagining the future takes vision and in order to take people into the future with you, you have to help them picture it. That's what the campaign did with its now iconic "Rising Sun" logo, and what artists Shephard Fairey helped along with his now iconic poster (that is of course among our picks).

In all, we looked through 3,000 plus posters on the web. This is what we liked, most of which notable came from the designers who participated on the challenge site Designfor Obama.com.
